Mumbai, Dt. 5
The state government on Thursday assured the High Court that two orders barring eight farmer protestors from Ratnagiri district from entering their village and making any comments on social media against the proposed Barsu refinery project will be withdrawn immediately.
The curfew order is not justified. By implementing it, people will lose their means of livelihood for a month. A bench of Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Sharmila Deshmukh recorded the oral observation that people cannot therefore be banned.
After that, the court was told on behalf of the government that both the orders passed against the petitioners will be withdrawn immediately.
