Two Shiv Sena workers held for ‘molesting’
Police on Saturday arrested two Shiv Sena cadres near Matunga railway station here for beating the 38-year-old man accused of molesting women. He was arrested by Antop Hill Police Station on Friday.
“Shiv Sena activists identified as Nitin Nandgaonkar and Darshanbir Singh Surjit Singh Kochhar were arrested,” the official said. Rajivur Rahman Habibur Rahman Khan filed a complaint against him.
According to the complaint, Nandgaonkar and Singh obtained Khan’s phone number and asked him to come to the party’s Antop Hill branch for some work. When he got there, they both beat him.
According to the police, near Matunga railway station, Khan was caught in a CCTV camera staring and molesting a young woman. He was arrested earlier this month in a theft case and later released on bail.
Police said that when Khan went to Nandgaonkar’s office, the latter beat him up and also put a video of the act on his Facebook account.
In the video, Nandgaonkar can be seen slapping Khan and allegedly saying that in the future if someone molested women, he would disparage the person from his religion and caste.
A case has been registered against Nandgaonkar and Kochhar under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful imprisonment), 323 (voluntarily injuring) of the IPC, police said.
