New Delhi, Dt. 27
The Uddhav Thackeray group got temporary relief from the Supreme Court on Monday. The Thackeray faction has been allowed to use ‘Mashal’ as an election symbol till further orders. The Supreme Court has rejected the plea of Samata Party claiming the torch symbol.
After the split in the Shiv Sena, the symbol Mashal was temporarily given to Thackeray’s Shiv Sena for the Andheri East Legislative Assembly by-election in Mumbai. His term was to expire on March 27.
Even before that, Samata Party approached the Supreme Court claiming the torch symbol. But the Supreme Court has made it clear that the symbol of Mashal will remain with Uddhav Thackeray till further order.
