Stepping into shoes of CM Parrikar, Goa awaits for young and dynamic Dr Pramod Sawant as its new Chief Minister
Following the passing away of Goa’s beloved Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday, Goa BJP leader Pramod Sawant will shortly succeed him. Dr Pramod Sawant’s name had been put forward by the BJP as their pick to be Chief Minister of the state. The swearing-in of the next Goa Chief Minister will be conducted at 5 pm today.
Sawant is the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly. He is an MLA from Sankhalim in North Goa. He is also an Ayurvedic doctor by training. Sawant holds a degree in BAMS (Bachelor in Ayurvedic Medicine) from Ganga Aruvedic Medical College, and also holds a degree in MSW (Master in Social Work). He is currently the President of the Goa unit of the BJP Mahila Morcha.
He had tweeted about Manohar Parrikar’s demise and called him a ‘fatherly figure’, “A statesman, guide, architect of modern Goa and a fatherly figure has left for the heavenly abode! A personal loss as my #Manoharbhai is no more! Om Shanti”
