According to the traditional panahcnag and Indian almanac, the rain continues till the Sun is in the Swati Nakshatra. It is believed that there may be retrograde rain in the Chitra and Swati Nakshatra. This year, the Sun will enter the Swati Nakshatra on October 24, 2022.

Therefore, this rain is likely to continue till November 9. Interestingly, even the Meteorological Department has not yet officially announced that the monsoon rains have completely withdrawn from the whole of Maharashtra.

Mriga to Hasta Nakshatras are known as Rain Nakshatras.Rain is believed to start when the Sun enters Mriga Nakshatra. This year on June 8th, the Sun entered the Mriga Nakshatra. It is a traditional belief that rain lasts as long as the Sun is in the Swati Nakshatra. Elephant, Peacock, Horse, Rat, Fox, Buffalo, Frog, Ram, Donkey are the vehicles of rain constellations.

If the vehicle is frog, buffalo, elephant, there is a lot of rain. Peacock, Donkey and Rat are vehicles of medium form (this year on 10th October Sun entered Chitra Nakshatra and vehicle is Rat and next October 24th Sun will enter Swati Nakshatra and vehicle is Donkey).

And if the fox, ram is the vehicle, it brings rain. It is believed that if a horse is a vehicle, it rains in the mountain region. There are some Marathi sayings about the rain constellations and the rain falling in them, the deer should sow first and run before Bombay, if the elephant falls, the walls will collapse, if Swati falls, then pearls will grow, if Uttara does not fall, then Pitra will not get rice, if the picture falls, then the dog will not eat.​​

According to the English calendar, four months from June to September are considered as rainy months, but according to tradition and almanacs, it rains from Mriga to Hasta Nakshatra. This year, on October 24, the Sun enters the Hasta Nakshatra, and there is a possibility that rain will continue for fifteen days before that. Of course, there is no scientific basis for predicting the precipitation constellations, their vehicles and the rain falling from them. But according to the Panchang that have been going on for years, the common man, the farmer builds his perception about the rain.

On 6th July Sun entered Punarvasu Nakshatra and vehicle was Rat.On 20th July Sun entered Pushya Nakshatra and vehicle was Fox. On 3rd August, Sun entered Ashlesha Nakshatra and the entry vehicle was Peacock. On 17th August, Sun entered Magha Nakshatra and vehicle was Horse. On 30th August, Sun entered Purvashadha Nakshatra and vehicle was Aries.
On 13th September, Sun enters Uttarashadha Nakshatra and vehicle is donkey. On 27th September, Sun enters Hasta Nakshatra, vehicle is Fox. On 10th October, Sun enters Chitra Nakshatra and vehicle is Rat. On October 24, Sun will enter Swati Nakshatra and the vehicle is donkey.
According to the traditional adakhya, moderate rains occur if Rat and Donkey are vehicles.
