PM lambastes Congress for praising Maoists as ‘Revolutiuonaries’

Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh): Launching a heavy attack on the Congress party for praising the Maoists as ‘revolutionaries’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the brutal killing of a DD cameraman Ahcyutanand Sahu by the Naxalites in Chhattisgarh.

Sahu was killed in the Bastar area of the state while covering the election campaign. The state will be going to polls to elect the new legislative assembly in a two-phased election program. In the first phase the Bastar area will be going to polls on November 12 while voting for remaining seats will be taken on November 18.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on an election campaign tour at Jagdalpur on Friday. Congress President Rahul Gandhi is also on election tour of the state to launch the party’s poll campaign.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in special flight to Jagdalpur to address the only public meeting in the first phase. Describing the killing of a DD Cameraman as the most cowardly act of the Maoists Modi said the journalist had come here to project your voice and show your dreams to the outside world. However the Maoists killed him and these Congress leaders call them ‘revolutionaries’, he lamented.

He also criticized the Congress leaders for supporting Urban Maoists and sympathizing with the ultras. He the slain journalist came with camera and not with gun to carry your dreams to the outside world. But the Maoists killed him. In the eyes of the Congress leaders these Maoists are ‘revolutionaries’ Modi said reiterating his resolve to make Chhattisgarh and Bastar peaceful, rich and strong by ushering in an era of development.

The Prime Minister said that whenever he came to Bastar he brought with him new schemes of development every time he visited the state. He said that the government’s mantra is “Sab ka Saath Sab ka Vikas” and reiterated his commitment to the people.

The 18 seats in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh will be going to polls on November 12. The campaign guns will fall silent on November 10 evening. Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and BJP President Amit Shah campaigned on the remaining seats in the region besides a number of Union Ministers also conducting election meetings in the state.

The Congress party leaders are also on election campaign in the region and its President Rahul Gandhi is expected to address a couple of meetings at Rajanandgaon and Dongargarh and Pakhanjur, said party’s media incharge Shailesh Nitin Trivedi. Rahul will hold a roadshow at Rajanadgaon, the assembly constituency of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh.
