People with disabilities need support rather than sympathy – Governor Ramesh Bais

Governor Ramesh Bais asserted here today that people with disabilities do not need sympathy but support from the society.
A program jointly organized by the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission, Motiha Charitable Trust, District Judicial Service Authority – Mumbai Suburbs and ‘Saksham’ Konkan Province provided sewing machines, flour mills to 75 needy persons with disabilities in a program at Raj Bhavan. At that time, Governor Bais was speaking.
About two percent of people in India are disabled. Society has a duty to provide education, employment training, fair opportunities and a safe environment to the disabled. The governor also said that disabled persons can also perform excellently if they get a favorable environment.
The Governor announced a donation of Rs 5 lakh to Moti Charitable Trust, which works for the self-reliance of disabled persons.
