Mumbai Police inspector held for accepting Rs 10,000 bribe

An inspector of the Mumbai Police has been arrested for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from outside on bail for not taking further action against him, ACB official said.

Inspector Chandrakant Jadhav (57) was picked up from outside the Wadala TT police station on Monday after he was accepting the amount from the complainant, who was recently released on bail.

An Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official said that Jadhav had demanded a bribe of Rs 70,000 for not making the booking and out of the city under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act (MPDA) to the complainant.

Jadhav has been booked under Section 7 (A) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
