While some environmentalists oppose saying that the metro should not be developed to save trees, Bachchan’s tweet reflects a efficacious note of the said Metro project.
Earlier, in a series of tweet with an hashtag of #AareyAikaNa the Managing Director last week had swiftly listed the facts and truth behind the infrastructural development and how the government has channelized the project so to not harm the environment.
The Maharashtra government aided by Centre has shown impressive progress when it comes to this Metro project. Interestingly, the Mumbai Metro will also solve problems like reducing vehicular traffic which the metro will de-clogs the roads and it shall reduce CO2emission by 2.6 lakh metric tons every year.
Further, an important point to note remains that the Aarey Colony in 1287 Hectare and that out of the total, the metro car shed will be only built on 30 Hectare and even within that 5 Hectare is slated to be kept intact for greenery. So, in a nutshell, only 2 per cent area of the entire Aarey Colony will be utilized for the proposed metro car shed.
