In the special campaign implemented by the Thane Municipal Administration for the recovery of water dues last year, the tap connections of 8 thousand 571 defaulters have been disconnected. Also, compared to last year, this year the collection of water dues has also increased by Rs. 14 crores.
As per the order of Thane Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar, the team of Suburban Engineer Vinod Pawar of Water Supply Department conducted special campaigns throughout the year.
It took strict action against those who refused to accept the payments and cut off their taps. 8 thousand 571 tap connections were broken during the year. Out of them, the most i.e. 2 thousand 820 pipe connections were broken in Wagle Estate area. Under that, 1 thousand 723 pipe connections were broken in Kalwa area, 1 thousand 303 in Diva area, 1 thousand 145 in Mumbra area.
Apart from taking strict action against the defaulters, the municipality also emphasized on the recovery of regular water dues. During the last year, the municipal administration has recovered the water bill of Rs. In the previous year, water charges of Rs 120 crore 532 thousand 896 were recovered.
