AP BJP delegation calls on Railway Minister Piyush Goyal over Vizag Railway Zone

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mega rally in Visakhapatnam, a delegation of Andhra Pradesh BJP unit on Saturday called on Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and requested him to clear the long pending project of Visakhapatnam Railway Zone.

The top panel also submitted a memorandum regarding special Railway Zone and other key developmental issues associated with the North Andhra region. According to media reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Vigaz rally which is scheduled on March 1 is likely to make a formal announcement about the prestigious venture. The matter of controversial Visakhapatnam Railway Zone is pending with parliamentary sub-committee.

Speaking to the media, senior BJP leader and former Union Minister D Purandeswari, said that approval of Visakhapatnam Railway Zone would boost the economic development in the North Andhra region. She further added that proposed Railway Zone, a key provision in Andhra Pradesh Reorganization act 2014 would create more job opportunities for locals.  The former Visakhapatnam MP requested Goyal to look into the matter positively.

On this occasion, state BJP Chief Kanna Lakshminarayana, Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha MP K Hari Babu, state in-charge Sunil Deodhar, V Muraleedharan, former Union Minister D Purandeswari, Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao, BJP floor leader, and Vishakhapatnam North MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju and other officials were present.
