And the venue is set! Ranchi to host main event of #YogaDay2019

And the venue is set as the main event of International Yoga Day on June 21 this year will be held in Ranchi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending it. The Centre has shortlisted five cities, Delhi, Shimla, Mysore, Ahmedabad and Ranchi to hold National Programme of the International Yoga Day this year. It will be the government’s first mega public event after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister for the second consecutive term.

Official sources said names of these cities have been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) which will finalize the venue of the main function to be held on June 21. If selected, the national capital would be hosting the event for the second time.

In the lead-up to the event, a two-day Yoga Mahotsav is being organized in Delhi by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga which started yesterday. About 10,000 people, including yoga teachers, professionals, enthusiasts and others are attending it.

AYUSH Minister Shripad Yesso Naik said in New Delhi that the International Yoga Day has turned into a mass movement in most parts of the world. Addressing a gathering of yoga enthusiasts, he said the event has become the biggest public health movement in the world.

He said, for the first time this year, Indian experts will be demonstrating yoga postures to the members of British Parliament. In many other countries, people have voluntarily adopted yoga as a way of life. He said, they have realised the importance of yoga for good health and happiness. The Minister emphasized that the young generation in the country has adopted yoga as a part of their life.
