10 migrants travel on foot from hometown Pune in UP
Left without jobs and desperate to return home in lockdown, 10 migrant laborers traveled from Pune, Maharashtra, reaching their point of origin hundreds of kilometers away in Uttar Pradesh.

After all 10 migrant workers lost their jobs in Allahabad district of Uttar Pradesh, they started relocating their homes from Pune on Saturday evening and found it difficult to earn money to live here.
One of the workers of the group said, “We were all working as construction laborers in Pune. We no longer have food to survive. Therefore, we have started in our native place Uttar Pradesh.”
Zilla Parishad CEO Ayush Prasad said on Sunday that Pune district collector Naval Kishore Ram has ordered tehsildars and block development officers to immediately set up labor camps along the main routes, where expatriates can visit their destination.
“The camps will be set up on three roads leading to Nashik, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, which are at a reasonable distance from each other in roadside hotels and wedding circles. The tehsildars will decide the number and location of the camps based on the need. We are expecting it. At least 35 camps in the district, “he said.
Each camp will have facilities for flu-like symptoms including water, toilets, safe places to live, food, and basic medical care. The official said that expatriates can register online through the state’s ‘Apple Government Portal’ to use the transport facilities provided by the government.
He said that adequate police protection would also be deployed in the camps to protect migrants, women, and children and an officer would also be appointed as camp manager.
He said the camp expenses would be met through the State Disaster Relief Fund, in which 10 lakh to 20 lakh rupees have been given as an advance to provide relief to each taluka.
