Mumbai, Dt. 26 Governor Ramesh Bais appealed here that ‘UNICEF’ Maharashtra should cooperate with the state government to vaccinate the last child in the state. The report ‘The State of the World’s Children – 2023: Immunization for Every Child’ prepared by UNICEF was released in the presence of Governor Ramesh Bais at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. The main theme of this year’s report is ‘vaccination’. UNICEF Maharashtra Chief Regional Officer Rajshri Chandrasekhar, Government Health Department Secretary Naveen Sona, Health Officers, ‘Asha’ workers from Palghar and Nashik, mothers of beneficiary children and UNICEF communication specialist Dr. Swati Mahapatra were present on the occasion. In the world, be it natural or man-made disasters, wars or civil wars, women and children are the most affected. Poverty also leaves many children deprived of immunization. Therefore, UNICEF should pay special attention to children from marginalized groups in terms of vaccination, the governor said. 17.47 lakh children are born in the state every year and 4800 children are born every day. Health Secretary Naveen Sona said that the government has the system to fully vaccinate all these newborns. On this occasion, Maya Vikas Pimple, Vaishali Patil and Urmila Thakur, the mother of the vaccinated beneficiary expressed their condolences.
