Traffic police above 55 years of age should not be deployed for road duty – Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

Mumbai, Dt. 18
Temporary sheds for shade and drinking water should be provided to the traffic police on duty during afternoon heat. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has advised Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar that traffic policemen above 55 years of age should not be deployed for road duty.
At 12.30 pm yesterday, Chief Minister Shinde was on his way to Mumbai from Thane when he saw the traffic police on duty in the hot sun. He saw that many of these policemen were senior in age and were performing their duty in the hot sun.
Seeing their condition, Chief Minister Shinde immediately called Brihanmumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar and asked him not to deploy more than 55-year-old traffic policemen to perform their duties on the roads in the hot sun.
