Mumbai, Dt. 5
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is going to spend Rs 300 crore this year to fill the potholes on the roads.
Among these works, only three contractors bid for the Rs 34 crore reactive asphalt technology tender, which is 24 per cent more than the municipal office estimate.
The opposition party has objected to this and has alleged that the contractors colluded and filled the tenders. Reactive asphalt used to fill potholes is a patented technology. Therefore, the municipal corporation says that the contractors may have bid more than the estimate.
This year, the municipal corporation has decided to use reactive asphalt, hardening rapid concrete technology and traditional mastic as an asphalt method to fill potholes. Out of this, 125 crores will be spent on reactive asphalt and hardening rapid technology, 300 crores will be spent on substandard road strips, 125 crores on resurfacing and 50 crores on asphalt.
