Sterlite plant re-opening shows AIADMK’s indecisiveness: DMK President MK Stalin
Launching a fresh salvo at the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, DMK President MK Stalin today said that the AIADMK government did nothing to stop the re-opening of controversial Sterlite smelting plant in Tuticorin
His reaction came after the Supreme Court’s verdict where the top court has turned down the plea against the NGT order. Speaking to the media, Stalin stated that the TN government has failed miserably to tackle the Sterlite issue.
“A firm policy decision should have been taken but nothing was done,” said DMK President. Staging a protest against the ruling party, DMK lawmakers today walked out from the Assembly.
On December 15, the National Green Tribunal rejected the Tamil Nadu government’s closure order on Vedanta group’s copper plant. Later, the state government moved to SC and filed a petition challenging NGT order. Today, the apex court quashed TN’s plea demanding a stay on NGT order and cleared the desk for Sterlite smelting plant.
