There has been a reshuffle in 13 states across the country today and the current Governor of Jharkhand Ramesh Bais has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra.
Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had resigned a few days ago expressing his desire to be relieved of his post. Finally President Draupadi Murmu accepted Koshyari’s resignation today.
Abbreviation of Bais
Bais was born in Raipur in Chhattisgarh state. Bais, who was elected as Member of Parliament for seven times, was a minister in the cabinet of the country’s former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He was denied Lok Sabha ticket in 2019. Bais was then appointed as the Governor of Tripura state. After serving as the Governor of Tripura for two years, he was appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand in 2021.
