Municipal administration is ready in the background of increasing number of corona patients

The number of corona patients has been increasing in the Brihanmumbai Municipal area for the past few days and according to the estimates of the Union Health Ministry, the number of corona infection patients is likely to increase in the month of May. Against this background, the municipal administration is ready.
Municipal Commissioner Iqbalsingh Chahal has appealed to senior citizens above 60 years of age to wear masks as a precautionary measure while walking in crowded places.
Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Iqbal Singh Chahal organized a meeting yesterday to review the preparedness of the health system in Mumbai against the background of increasing number of Corona patients. Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Ashwini Bhide, Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Ashish Sharma, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Shri. P. Velrasu, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Western Suburbs) Dr. Sanjiv Kumar along with all concerned Joint Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners and Heads of Accounts were present.
It is necessary to keep hospital beds ready in private hospitals along with the municipal corporation, the central procurement department of the municipal corporation should review the necessary gloves, masks, PPE kits as well as the stock of medicines and other medical materials and start the process of purchasing them if necessary, increase the number of corona tests, in all hospitals. Hospitals should examine (audit) the medical oxygen production (oxygen plant) set, coordination of oxygen demand and supply. In this meeting, Chahal also suggested that the municipal and private hospitals in Mumbai should conduct colorful training (mock drill) as part of the Corona preparedness.
