Monitoring the situation closely on Vizag gas leak: Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday termed the gas leak at a chemical plant in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh as “disturbing” and said the central government was closely monitoring the situation. He said that he is praying for the well being of the people of Visakhapatnam.
Shah tweeted, “Vizag incident is disturbing. Talked to NDMA officials and concerned officials. We are constantly and closely monitoring.”
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kishan Reddy spoke to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Andhra Pradesh and reviewed the situation. Reddy directed the teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to provide necessary assistance to the victims.
“I am constantly monitoring the situation. Hundreds of people in Visakhapatnam, AP have been affected by the unprecedented and unfortunate incident,” he said.
At least six people, including a child, have died and more than 100 are hospitalized due to a gas leak at the LG Polymer Chemical Plant in Gopalapatnam area of Visakhapatnam.
