Hindu Sadhus beaten up in Sangli, a repetition of the Palghar incident!
In Palghar two years ago Hindu Sadhus were severely beaten up, which caused their death. This incident has not yet faded from our minds, and an incident occurs in Lavanga, Sangli that refreshes it again. A video is viral on social media of four Hindu Sadhus being beaten up by the locals. This incident is distasteful and makes tempers boil. Maharashtra Government should take immediate cognition of it and take strict legal action against the guilty, demanded Hindu Janjagruti Samiti. Four Sadhus of the Juna Akhada had come from Mathura (UP) in a Bolero car to Lavanga in Sangli District and were asking for direction to an address. It is said that the local people thinking that the Sadhus intended to kidnap the children, thrashed and severely beat them up. Maharashtra reputed to be land of Sadhus and Saints yet it is here that incidents of Sadhus being beaten up happen again and again, which is shameful for Maharashtra. It is never heard of such incidents occur with Muslim Maulana or to Christian Priests. Innocent Sadhus being beaten up in this manner is a shame to humanity. Hence the Government should take note of this fact. The Samiti’s press note also adds that if this happens with Hindu Sadhus repetitively in Maharashtra, the Government should take concrete steps to prevent repetition of such incidents.
