High Court order not to arrest Sameer Wankhede till June 23
Mumbai, Dt. 8
The Bombay High Court has ordered that the former director of the Mumbai Division of the Central Narcotics Control Department, Sameer Wankhede, not be arrested till June 23. His pre-arrest bail has now been extended till June 23.
The CBI had requested the High Court to cancel the interim relief granted to Wankhede from arrest in connection with the allegation of demanding a bribe of Rs 25 crore for the release of actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan.
The allegations against Wankhede have been found to be prima facie true. These allegations are very serious and sensitive in nature. These are allegations of corruption by a government service officer with private individuals, criminal conspiracy and threats for extortion.
Therefore, the CBI claimed in an affidavit filed in the High Court on Wednesday that if the interim relief granted to Wankhede from arrest is maintained, it will adversely affect the investigation of the case.
The court ordered Wankhede not to be arrested till June 23. Meanwhile, Sameer Wankhede’s lawyers have demanded permission to amend the petition.
