Bail to Kochar couple

The Bombay High Court on Monday granted bail to former ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar.
Stating that Kochhar’s arrest was illegal, it ordered the release of Chanda and her husband Deepak Kochhar on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh each.
The CBI had arrested the Kochhar couple on December 23 last year in connection with the alleged loan scam in ICICI Bank. After that Videocon Group Chairman Venugopal Dhootwas also shackled.

The court has sent these three to 14 days judicial custody till January 10. The CBI had not taken any sanction under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) before the action. Therefore, the Kochhar couple had claimed in their arguments that this action was illegal.
