Mumbai, 18th Western Railway 26 suburban trains of 12 coaches will now be operated with 15 coaches. This includes 10 trains on the express line. They will run from November 21.
With the conversion of twelve coaches into fifteen coaches, the passenger carrying capacity of each local will increase by 25 percent. With this decision, the total number of 15-coach local trips will increase from 106 to 132.
The first suburban train of 12 coaches ran on Western Railway in 1986 and the first suburban train of 15 coaches ran in 2006.
