12,000 students turned away from admission despite getting first choice college

The deadline for first merit list admissions in colleges in Mumbai metropolitan area ended on Monday. About 12 thousand students did not take admission despite getting first choice college in the cap round of admission process. These students cannot apply for the second round.

Out of the 1 lakh 36 thousand students who were selected in the first merit list from the central admission process, 63 thousand students have confirmed their admission while 75 thousand 913 students have taken admission through the cap round and quota so far.

11th admission process is currently going on in 10014 colleges in Mumbai metropolitan area. 3 lakh 80 thousand seats are available for admission in these colleges and 2 lakh 38 thousand seats are available through cap round.

1 lakh 41 thousand seats are available for admission to class XI through minority quota, management quota and other quota.
