The investigation report of the scam depriving backward class students of education was suppressed

In the year 2017, a scam of Rs 1,826 crore was exposed in the scholarship given by the Central Government for post-matriculation education to the backward class students; But it has been revealed through RTI that its investigation is still ‘ongoing’. Why are the names of 64 educational institutions pocketing the money of backward class students are not stated publically ? If recovery was made from some, why were no cases filed ? Why are decisions not made on the inquiry report ? Criminal cases should be filed against them and the case should be transferred to the Economic Crime Investigation Department. Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad (Hindu Lawyers Council) has requested through a letter to the Secretary of the Social Justice Department of the Government of Maharashtra. After raising these questions, Advocate Virendra Ichalkaranjikar the National President of the Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad warned that if action is not taken in this case, the further legal battle would be fought on behalf of Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad. In a letter sent to the Social Justice Department, Advocate Ichalkaranjikar said that when the matter was raised in the Legislative Council in 2017, the then Social Justice Minister had admitted that the scam had taken place. It was also said that out of Rs. 1826 crore only Rs. 96,16,00,000 have been recovered and the investigation is going on; The Minister also admitted that no cases have been filed against the 64 educational institutions that are guilty. However, when Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad inquired about what happened next in this regard, it was said that there was a scam in the scholarship given by the Central Government and its investigation is ‘ongoing’. It means that even though it has been 6 years, strict legal action has not been taken against those who are involved in the corruption of the money of backward class students. Is this scam of hundreds of crores of rupees being suppressed by the officials of Social Justice Department or Social Welfare Commissioner’s office in connivance with each other ? Why are the Government officials satisfied only with the recovery of backward class students ? It is not clear how much the recovery is made ? Or have they been ordered to keep quiet ? Overall, the matter is serious. The names of the institutions guilty in this scam should be announced and cases should be registered against all concerned. If necessary, the matter should be investigated by the Economic Offences Department. Also, action should be taken against those persons who are responsible for depriving backward students of scholarships, said Advocate Ichalkaranjikar.
