Responsibility for the Construction of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial in Agra Assigned to the Tourism Department

On the occasion of Shiv Jayanti, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the construction of a grand memorial for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Agra. The responsibility for executing this project and allocating funds has been entrusted to the Tourism Department, and an official government resolution regarding this has been issued today.

The Maharashtra government will acquire the historic building in Agra where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was once held in captivity and will develop a state-of-the-art memorial at the site. Through a museum, audiovisual presentations, documentaries, and other initiatives, the glorious history of Shivaji Maharaj will be brought to life for future generations.

A committee of historians and experts will be formed under the chairmanship of the Tourism Minister, and the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will be the implementing agency for the project. This historic memorial will allow tourists from India and abroad to experience the unparalleled valor and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
