The tragic incident of Praveen Dinkar, Police Inspector of Marine Drive Police Station, was crushed to death by two BEST buses at Santacruz East Vakola on Friday morning. The accident took place while he was on his way to duty. The bus driver of BEST, Gautam Lokhande, has been arrested and the police have registered a case against him.
Praveen Dinkar (45) lived with his wife and two daughters at Adhikari Vasahat in East Kalina, Santacruz.
On Friday morning, he left on his motorcycle to go to duty. After parking the motorcycle at Santacruz railway station, they would catch a train to Marine Lines. While going towards Santacruz railway station on a motorcycle, the BEST bus stopped in front of his motorcycle at Vakola Masjid bus stop, when Praveen Dinkar was standing behind that bus, another BEST bus coming behind at a high speed hit Dinkar’s motorcycle.
Due to this collision, Dinkar got seriously injured by getting stuck in both the buses, he was immediately brought to VN Desai Hospital by the Best Bus carrier with the help of another passenger, the doctor admitted him and started treatment. He died at half past eleven while undergoing treatment.
Gautam Lokhande is a contract driver of Best Bus and according to him the bus accident happened due to brake failure of the bus.
A day before the accident i.e. Thursday, Praveen Dinkar had gone to Alibaug with his family for a holiday as it was his weekly holiday.
