NDRF at rescue! Guardian Angels save more than 300 in flood-affected areas of Maharashtra’s Sangli district

With heavy rains flooding several cities of Maharashtra, the rising water levels within have reportedly ruined the normal life styles of the masses in the state, further noting the threats of petty infrastructural collapse in certain districts.

In the pursuit, CM Devendra Fadnavis on behalf of the State Government had requested the Centre for National Disaster Response Force team from Goa for Dodamarg in Sindhudurg district, in view of discharge of water from Tillari Dam.

NDRF teams have, until now rescued about 300 people in Walva, Shirgaon, Nandre, Kasbe Digris in Sangli district. “Teams have also rescued about 475 people in Khutwad, Ambewadi, Chikhli in Kolhapur district. Operation still underway”, one of the NDRF officials meanwhile confirmed.

However, aligning to the safety modules, the Pune Bengaluru Highway in Kolhapur’s Shiroli area have been closed for traffic movement, following water logging on the route due to continuous rain in the region.
