The Maharashtra Maritime Board has decided to start a circular water transport service between Mumbai, Vasai, Thane, Kalyan and Navi Mumbai by connecting Thane Bay, Vasai Bay and Ulhas River.
A provision of Rs 424 crore has been made for this and under the ‘Sagarmala’ scheme, 50 km of waterway Vasai – Thane – Kalyan will be developed. Ten jetties will be constructed under this project and the work of four jetties will be undertaken in the first phase of the project.
