J&K: CISF official killed in terrorist attack on outskirts of Srinagar

Srinagar: A security official of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was killed in a terrorist attack on outskirts of Srinagar on Friday. Security officials said unidentified terrorists attacked CISF guard post at Power Grid Station at Wagoora Nowgam in Srinagar outskirts.

They said one Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of CISF sustained critical injuries in the attack. Later, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The deceased was identified as ASI Rajendra Prasad. No terrorist outfit claimed responsibility for the attack.

Along with this, the joint teams of security forces launched cordon and search operations (CASOs) in two different areas in south Kashmir’s Kulgam and Shopian districts today.

Security sources said that search Operations were started in Ghat village in Khudwani area of Kulgam district and also DK Pora in Shopian district on the basis of inputs about the presence of terrorists in the two areas.

On Wednesday, five terrorists were killed in two different encounters with security forces. Two Lashkar e Toiba terrorists were killed in a gunfight with joint security forces at Kreeri area Baramulla district. The identity of slain terrorists is being ascertained.
