India Will Never Forget Missile Man

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today, paid tributes to former President of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary.

Dr A P J Abdul Kalam was an aerospace scientist who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was born in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu on 15 October 1931.  He thus came to be known as the Missile Man of India for his work on the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology. Dr Kalam received 7 honorary doctorates from 40 universities. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan & Padma Vibhushan. In 1997, Kalam received India’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna.

Mr Modi said, “Kalam had a vision of Strong and Modern India in the 21st Century and strived his entire life to achieve it. His exemplary life is an inspiration to every Indian”
