Huge response to ‘Pustak Rasta’ initiative organized by Pai Friends Library

Along with book promotion and dissemination, Pai Friends Library is conducting various activities to increase the reading culture. As a part of this, on the occasion of World Book Day, Pai Friends Library organized a ‘Book Road’ activity from 5 am to 10 am today.
Pundalik Pai, founder director of Pai Friends Library said that this is the first initiative not only in Maharashtra but also in India.
From Appa Datar Chowk to Modern Cafe Chowk at Dombivli East Phadke Rasta, thousands of books on various subjects were laid out on a red carpet. The books presented included story novels, historical, translated, science books along with English and Marathi story books for children.
The activity started at five in the morning. Even in the morning, book lovers attended. After seven o’clock there was a large crowd of readers. The queue to see the books presented in the book road initiative reached up to the Acharya Atre library of the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation. Readers were let in to view the books by paying a certain number of coupons. One could take one of the books on display for free while walking around and looking at the books.
The activity ended at ten o’clock. Six thousand readers and book lovers visited here from five to ten in the morning.
More than 200 volunteers from various organizations in Dombivli participated in this activity. Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, Traffic Police and special cooperation of Police was availed for this activity.
