All-rounder of Indian cricket Hardik Pandya DY Patil is set to play in the T20 tournament, which started here from Monday. Hardik had suffered a lower back injury five months earlier and underwent surgery in London. The 26-year-old all-rounder, who has not played international cricket since is recovering at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.
President of D. Y. Patil Sports Academy, Dr. Vijay Patil and Mumbai Cricket Association President Dr. Vijay Patil said, “Reliance 1 (team) will be represented by players like Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shikhar Dhawan.”
Dhawan and Bhuvaneshwar are on their way to recover after being injured. Bhuvneshwar underwent a hernia operation, while Dhawan suffered a shoulder injury during the ODI series against Australia at home last month.
A total of 16 teams will compete for the trophy with the final set to be held in March. According to the organizers, the Reliance 1 team will also have Anmolpreet Singh.
Indian players Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dubey, Sanju Samson and domestic giants like Surya Kumar Yadav, Rahul Tripathi, and Divyansh Saxena, who represented India under-19 in the World Cup, are part of the BPCL team.
Dinesh Karthik, Mandeep Singh Rahul Tewatia, Varun Chakraborty and young Maharashtra batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad DY Patil will represent the A-team. Another young player for the DY Patil B team will include Kamlesh Nagerkoti, fast bowlers Varun Aaron and Manan Vohra.
Other teams are CAG, Income Tax, IOC, Bank of Baroda and RBI.
