The show of contempt between Legislative Council Speaker Neelam Gorhe and Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar had repercussions in the Legislative Assembly on Friday.
After a scuffle started between MLAs Ashish Shelar and Bhaskar Jadhav, President Rahul Narvekar intervened and put his finger on the rules.
Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rahul Narvekar organized a music Rajni program in the Legislature premises. Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe was not informed about this programme. The MLAs in the Legislative Council objected to this. He also raised the question whether the authority of the Deputy Speaker is being curtailed.
This issue was raised in the Legislative Assembly on Friday. Responding to it, Speaker Rahul Narvekar read out the rules, provisions and duties of presiding officers. Pointing to the provisions of the Constitution, Legislative Council Deputy Speaker Neelam Gorhe replied to the comment made on Thursday.
