Mumbai, Dt. 28
A pedestrian bridge will be constructed at Khaling Khurd village in Bhiwandi taluk to cross the aqueduct that supplies water to Mumbai on the Kalher-Aghai road. The bridge will be constructed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the construction cost of the bridge will be Rs.1 crore 40 lakhs.
Service roads have been constructed along the canals from Vaitarna, Upper Vaitrana, Central Vaitrana and Tansa Dams through Modak Sagar and Tansa Dams. One of these important roads is the Kalher-Aghai road. Tansa and Modaksagar dams can be reached from this road.
Residents of Mauje Khaling Khurd village on this road have to use cement concrete steps to cross the water channel. These steps are old and unsafe for crossing water channels.
Utkarsh Seva Sanstha and Pundas Gram Panchayat of Bhiwandi have sent a letter to Mumbai Municipal Corporation. The letter mentions that the local villagers of Khaling village do not have a road to reach the graveyard and farm. Therefore, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has decided to construct a pedestrian bridge to cross the water channel at Mauje Khaling Khurd.
