On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation K.E.M. A ‘Whole Genome Sequencing’ project has been started in the hospital.
Due to this project, it will be easier for the doctors to decide which drugs to give to the patients suffering from tuberculosis who are not responding to the drugs, to overcome the said tuberculosis, said the Executive Health Officer of the Municipal Public Health Department, Dr. Mangala Gomare gave it.
The ‘Whole Genome Sequencing’ (WGS) project is being implemented under the initiative of Public Health Department and “Society for Mumbai Incubation Lab to Entrepreneurship (SMILE) Council” Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
Such a project was implemented earlier in Britain. This is the first project in the country, said Municipal Business Department Head Shashi Bala.
