Platform ticket closed at Kalyan station to prevent crowd and stampede
The crowd of North Indians going to their villages for Diwali and Chhath Puja has suddenly increased at Central Railway’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Thane, Kalyan Railway Station as well as Western Railway’s Bandra Terminal.
Just three days ago, many passengers were injured in a stampede at Bandra Terminal. Keeping all these possibilities in mind, Central Railway has taken several necessary steps to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
The above information was given by Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Swapnil Meena during a special conversation with Mumbai Aas. According to him, such necessary sub-plans are made by Central Railway every year during the season.
First of all, platform tickets have stopped being available at major stations here. Because in trains going towards North India, there is a large crowd of passengers as well as those who leave them. This leads to unnecessary crowd at the station. To prevent this, platform tickets have been discontinued till next 10 November.
According to Chief Public Relations Officer Meena, to control this crowd and to ensure that people reach their villages safely during Diwali and Chhath Puja, Central Railway has arranged special trains this year as well, like every year.
According to him, 33 regular trains were run daily for North India, now 8 more have been added to it. Along with this, due to increased crowd during these festivals, 22 festival special trains are being run by Central Railway this year as well.
Along with this, 15 festival special trains have been started once again from Mumbai to various districts of Maharashtra and in Konkan Railway as well. This will reduce the crowd in trains.
