In Australia, an emergency warning issued in Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup as bushfire is threatening lives
A bushfire is threatening lives and homes in Southampton near Donnybrook in Western Australia’s South West. More than 50 firefighters are battling the out-of-control blaze, which is burning in a plantation in the Donnybrook-Balingup shire.
An emergency warning was issued for people in an area bounded by Balingup-Nannup Road, Wetherly Road, Hay Road and Maidment Bridge in the central part of Southhampton.
Water bombers have been called in as the fire is in difficult terrain and heading towards state forest. The Department of Parks and Wildlife said a recent wind change caused the fire alert to be upgraded to an emergency level.
It said the fire was moving fast in a westerly direction. A bushfire watch and act has been issued for people in an area bounded by Balingup-Nannup Road, Cundinup-Dudinyillup Road and Edwards Road in the northern part of Southampton.

The fire started about 2.45pm near Radiata Road in the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup and is threatening properties bounded by Nannup-Balingup Road, Wetherly Road, Hay Road and Maidment Bridge
Authorities say the bushfire is moving fast in a westerly direction and is out of control and unpredictable.
