The main objective of the Indian judiciary is to make judgments available in regional languages as well – Chief Justice Chandrachud

In the increasing digitization of the modern era, making judgments available by courts in regional languages is a major objective of the Indian Judiciary at present. Chief Justice Dhananjay Chandrachud asserted that the help of artificial intelligence must be taken for that.

He was speaking at a felicitation function organized by Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa at Swaminarayan Mandir in Dadar. At this time, the judge of the Supreme Court. Bhushan Gavai and Bombay High Court in-charge Chief Justice Sanjay Gangapurwala were also present.

The basic objective of e-SCR is to provide free access to Supreme Court judgments to all. Based on this technology, lawyers can also get information for free. However, simply providing judgments for free is not enough. Unless all judgments are available to lawyers in rural areas in their regional languages, the goal of removing barriers to accessing this information will not be achieved, Chandrachud added.
