Thane: Father-son duo held for killing a man

Police said on Tuesday that a 42-year-old man and his son were arrested in Shahpur in Thane district of Maharashtra for allegedly lynching a 24-year-old man.

Police arrested Deo Khadkar and his son Chintan (24) for attacking and killing Nilesh Ambir with iron rods, an official said. He said that Ambir, who was working at a medical shop, had an affair with the daughter of the accused and the family was against it, he said.

The officer said the incident took place in Khinwali on Monday evening when the accused couple took out the victim traveling on a two-wheeler with the victim. The accused attacked the victim with iron rods, adding that Ambir was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

A case under Section 302 (murder) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, has been registered against the pair of Inspector Gajendra Palve of Khinwali Police Station.
