Mumbai to Thane journey now signal free- CM Eknath Shinde launches traffic improvement projects in Mumbai suburbs

Mumbai to Thane journey will now be signal free. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the flyover at Chhedanagar Junction from Mankhurd to Thane in the Chhedanagar Junction Improvement Project on the Eastern Expressway and the Kapadia Nagar to Vakola Junction elevated route under the Santacruz Chembur Link Road Extension Project.
A 1.23 km long two-tier flyover from Mankhurd towards Thane has been inaugurated and opened for traffic. Due to this flyover, the traffic signal from Mankhurd towards Thane will be freed and the traffic from Navi Mumbai towards Thane on the Eastern Expressway will be smooth and the vehicles coming from Navi Mumbai will be able to travel towards Thane without interruption.
After the completion of the Santacruz Chembur Link Road and the Pre-Expressway, traffic from Mumbai suburbs as well as from Navi Mumbai to Mumbai Thane was heavily congested at Chheda Nagar Junction in Ghatkopar. To reduce this traffic, the Chheda Nagar Junction Improvement Project has been undertaken by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority. A total of three flyovers and one subway are being constructed under which the project will cost 223.85 crores. The flyover connecting the Santa Cruz Chembur Expressway in the said project was opened for traffic. Also, 86.33 crore was spent on the flyover which was inaugurated today.
The 3.03 km elevated road from Kurla to Vakola, Razak Junction in the first section of the Santacruz Chembur Expressway Extension Project was inaugurated today and opened for traffic. Recently Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two sections of this elevated route as well as the MTNL arm. MMRDA in collaboration with the state government is expanding the Santacruz Chembur Expressway project in two parts to reduce traffic congestion in BKC and Kurla areas and connect the Eastern and Western Expressways through the existing Santacruz Chembur Road (SCLR). Accordingly, the first phase will have an elevated road of 5.9 km.
