The fate of Maratha community has been locked as the Maharashtra State Backward Class Commission is all set to submit its fact-finding report on the much-awaited Maratha reservation.
According to media reports, today or tomorrow, the state government will take the final call on the long pending demand of the Maratha community. Marathas are pitching for 6% quota in education and jobs. The report will be submitted to the Bombay High Court.

During 2014 Maharashtra assembly polls, then Congress-NCP government had announced the reservation for politically dominated Maratha Community but it was overturned by the High Court.
Later, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed Maharashtra State Backward Class Commission to study the feasibility of the Maratha reservation and other legal aspects in order to address the issue raised by the Maratha community.

The BJP-led NDA government was at the receiving end for allegedly delaying the demands of the Maratha community, having a share on 33% in the population.
On August 9, the pro-Maratha organization staged a violent protest in the Pune district. Near about 194 people were booked over the charges of rioting and law and order disputation.
