In a major success, an Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) ‘Rajveer’ seized a vessel with 6 Myanmar’s crew on Indian waters carrying 1,160 kilograms of banned ‘Ketamine’ drug on Thursday. The drugs were found packed in 1150 packets of 1 kg each.
“The ICG on September 19 had detained the vessel with suspicious packets found in the gunny bags which were later analyzed by the Narcotics Control Bureau at the Port Blair,” said Coast Guard Spokesperson DIG Vijay Kumar.
The Coast Guard vessels in the area are very proactive against such activities by drug peddlers who sell intoxicating substance for more than Rs 1 crore per kilogram. However, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is yet to ascertain the worth of the huge batch of Ketamine drug seized today. The interrogation of Myanmar’s crew is still on.
Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh has congratulated for the whole operation saying, “Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh has congratulated the ‘ICGS Rajvir’ team for confiscating a huge cache of narcotics in a boat near Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The NCB team has reached Port Blair and identification of the confiscated drugs is being done by them. @IndiaCoastGuard”
