Hindus should also be given a large place for worshipping in Raj Bhavan, just like Muslims for offering Namaz – Demand by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti

A room has been provided in the Raj Bhavan for the Muslim staff to offer Namaz. Muslims from outside were also coming there for offering Namaz. It used to get crowded there on Fridays.

During the coronavirus period, the place of prayer in the Raj Bhavan was closed like other places of worship as per the instructions of the State Government. In a letter to the Governor, the Muslim organisation ‘Raza Academy’ has demanded that the mosque in Raj Bhavan be opened for Muslims to offer prayers.

The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has demanded in a letter to the Governor that if a mosque or a place is being provided for Muslims in the Raj Bhavan, then Hindus should also be provided a large space in the Raj Bhavan for worshipping, Aarti, Pooja and celebrating festivals, informed Mr. Sunil Ghanwat, Maharashtra State Organiser of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

In a letter submitted to the Hon. Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the Samiti said that the Indian system of governance and administration is secular as per the Constitution. It a follower of Sarvadharma samabhav (Equal respect for all religioins.)

Therefore, no discrimination can be made on caste-religion basis. Adherence to the fundamental principles of ‘justice, brotherhood, equality, etc. is mandatory in the Constitution.

There for just like Muslim employees have been given space for a mosque in Raj Bhavan, according to the rules, Hindu employees should also be given the large space for the temple in the Raj Bhavan as per their staff-strength. So that the Hindu staff inside the Raj Bhavan and Hindus from outside will happily celebrate Maha Aarti, Pooja, Upasana, as well as celebrate various religious festivals. Also, they can go to that place and worship regularly, said Mr. Ghanwat.
