Global Battery Experiment held at CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography
CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography recently organized a ‘Global Battery Experiment’ event, along with the rest of the CSIR laboratories in the country. 52 students between the age group of 9-14 years from different schools participated and performed the experiment during the event. The programme was inaugurated by Prof Sunil Kumar Singh, Director, CSIR-NIO. Following the inauguration, a coin battery experiment was conducted in a team of four in a cluster arrangement. The experiment sought to investigate how many cells of different electrolytes it would take to light LED bulbs. The potential difference of the built cell was also measured.
The programme was a part of a Memorandum of Understanding between Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) which was signed on the 22nd September 2022 by Dr. N Kalaiselvi, Director General, CSIR and Dr. Paul Lewis FRSA, FInstLM, Chief Operating Officer, RSC.
