Demand in BJP to give Brahmin candidature from Dombivali assembly constituency
Even though the announcement of the date of assembly elections is getting delayed, efforts to get ticket for candidates in every assembly constituency have started in full swing as part of preparations to contest the elections.
A similar situation is being seen in Assembly No. 143 Dombivali. This time, there is a strong demand from the top leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party to give candidature to a Brahmin from this assembly constituency which is considered to be a stronghold of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and has Brahmin majority.
According to the information received, despite the Brahmin majority in Dombivali assembly constituency, the candidature has been given to non-Brahmins for the last 35-40 years.
The most important thing is that the initial image of BJP MLA Ravindra Chauhan, who has been elected from here for the last 3 sessions, has been that of a criminal and he does not come from the Sangh background either.
In the last 15 years of his tenure, the condition of the cultural city of Dombivali has worsened. Many problems like illegal construction, increasing crime, traffic problems, bad roads are increasing day by day in Dombivali. And despite the passage of fifteen years, it does not seem that BJP MLA Ravindra Chauhan has made any honest effort to solve these problems.
In such a situation, there is an atmosphere of intense discontent in Dombivali, especially among the voters with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh background. And from their side, the senior leadership of BJP has been strongly demanded to give a chance to a Brahmin candidate from the Dombivali assembly constituency.
However, due to the influence of Ravindra Chauhan, MLA of educated and cultural city of Dombivali with a strongman image, no BJP or Jan Sanghi is openly claiming a ticket from the BJP leadership.
But reliable sources have given information about some Brahmin names being recommended to the BJP leadership by the Sangh Parivar. Among them, the names of senior journalists Sudhir Joglekar, Rahul Damle, Mandar Halve, Uday Karve are being discussed strongly.
Dombivli residents are keeping an eye on what decision the BJP leadership takes on the discontent at the local level and the Sangh Parivar’s demand to field a Brahmin candidate from the BJP senior leadership.
