Crimes of electricity theft registered against 591 people in Kalyan Parimandal in five Months

Consumers whose electricity supply has been cut due to arrears in Kalyan circle are on the radar of Mahavitran. Current status of power supply of these consumers is being checked and action is being taken where unauthorized power consumption is found.

Crimes of electricity theft have been filed against 591 people who permanently cut off power supply in the circle between January and May under Section 135 or 138 of the Electricity Act-2003. At the end of March-2023, there were 3 lakh 6 thousand 55 customers whose electricity supply was permanently disconnected in Kalyan Parimandal and they had arrears of Rs 273 crore 84 lakh.

In the month of April, 4 thousand 467 of these customers have paid Rs 2 crore 96 lakh and in the month of May 11 thousand 627 customers have paid Rs 2 crore 51 lakh. Still 2 lakh 92 thousand 684 customers have outstanding balance of Rs 268 crore 50 lakh.

Under Kalyan Mandal One Office (Kalyan East and West, Dombivli Division) 37 thousand 11 customers have an outstanding balance of Rs.31 crore 68 lakh. Under two offices of Kalyan Mandal (Kalyan Rural, Ulhasnagar one and two division) 84 thousand 338 customers have outstanding balance of Rs.79 crore 39 lakh.

Under Palghar Mandal Office (Palghar Division) 64 thousand 777 customers have outstanding balance of Rs.48 Crore 93 Lakh. Whereas under Vasai Mandal Office (Vasai and Virar Division) 1 lakh 6 thousand 528 customers have Rs 108 crore 49 lakh outstanding.

Overdue electricity bills and stealthy use of electricity by permanently disconnected consumers are causing double losses to Mahadistrivan. Mahavitaran has appealed to the customers whose power supply has been permanently cut off to pay the dues and use electricity respectfully.
