Chennai ICF creates history! Indian Railways ICF becomes largest rail coaches marker in the world

Indian Railways with dedication and commitment to the work, achieving new heights every day, but special congratulations to ICF Chennai! This coach factory produced 301 coaches in the month of February, taking the total for this fiscal to 2,919, so this puts the factory among the largest railcar builders in the world.

This year, ICF Chennai beats top Chinese manufacturers who produce around 2,600 coaches a year. According to official reports, this is the 2nd time in the year, the factory crossed the 300 coaches per month mark.

This discourse shows a 40% increase in production. Now in the financial year of 2019, ICF aiming for 3200 coaches.

According to the statement of a senior official, this number not only makes the Indian Railways coach factory the world’s largest railcar builder but also bigger than the remaining five of India put together.

ICF also built newly launched country’s fastest train ‘Vande Bharat Express’ between April-February period.Indian Railways has placed an order for 44 more Vande Bharat Express train sets with ICF. The first rake out of 44 is currently being manufactured.

Meanwhile, Indian Railways-owned Modern Coach Factory (MCF) in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh too has ramped up production and has manufactured as many as 143 coaches in the month of February, this year. According to the official statement, a cumulative total of 1,283 coaches have been manufactured by MCF this year against 586 coaches in the same period last year.

This has led to an increase of 118% in MCB’s coach production. Interestingly, the factory is now gearing up to achieve a production level of 1,422 coaches this year, double that of last year’s 711.
