Mumbai, Dt. 6
A ‘Payment Scanner App’ has been made available to ticket inspectors of Central Railway to accept fines from ticketless passengers.
This app has been given to 10 ticket inspectors in Mumbai division to accept fines online and thus ticket inspectors can collect fines online from ticketless passengers.
In long-distance trains, some ticket inspectors have been provided with a ‘Payment Scanner App’. Also, this app has been given to 10 ticket inspectors working on suburban railways.
Ticketless passengers give the reason that they do not have cash to pay the fine and are willing to pay the fine online. Online fine collection will help to stop disputes between ticket inspectors and passengers
Central Railway started its efforts in December 2022 to develop a mobile app to enable ticketless passengers to pay fines online, which has now become a reality.
